Of course Matt -- being a guy and all -- is not really too into this idea, and in fact, doesn't really like to wear costumes at all, unless they also double as pajamas.
Halloween '09Which is why I decided to go the cheater route, and brainstorm famous couples who already look kinda like us (i.e., blond, shaggy-haired men and longhaired brunettes), and whom we can mimic for little-to-no effort. Here are my 5 top ideas:
1.) Zack Morris + Kelly Kapowski. Zack and Kelly, of Saved by the Bell fame were the perfect high school couple to a 10-year-old me, and Matt totally looks like Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and was high school president in real life too. As a character, Kelly's perfectness always sort of bothered me (I was more like Jesse Spano -- smart, but always wearing something uglier) but I suppose I could suck it up for one night only. Not to mention the '90s are back with a vengeance this year.
2.) Devon Sawa + Christina Ricci. Devon Sawa was like, the pin-up boy for 11-year-olds across the 5th grade, and Christina Ricci the bad-ass alternative chick who covered her vulnerability with a rough exterior and tendency towards goth. They played opposite each other in Now and Then and Casper (two of the great movies of my youth) and generally seemed like the coolest people ever. Are Matt and I cool enough for a throwback?
3.) Dawson Leery + Joey Potter. I didn't actually watch Dawson's Creek -- it was a bit too sappy for my bad-ass, high school self -- but I think Joey was supposed to be the girl-next-door, which is what the man at the DMV called me just last month. Plus Katie Holmes and I have the same first name. Does anyone care about James van der Beek anymore?
4.) Posh + Becks. Posh has long been my favorite Spice girl, and shares my haircut, and penchant for giant glasses/ small dresses. Becks is sportier than Matt, but has similarly tousled hair -- although Matt's is all natural baby. This would be especially cool if I could find 4 other girls to dress up as the rest of the Spice Girls, except for I only have like 2 female friends, and I think someone already did this when I was in 9th grade (and then every year thereafter.)
4.) Blair Waldorf + Nate Archibald. Umm, I'm obsessed with Gossip Girl. But I'm only on Season 2, so I have no idea if Nate and Blair end up together. But for the sake of cute knee socks and ties...I hope so!
Which idea do you think Matt and I should rock this Halloween? And umm, think you can help me convince him?

You need to be Zach and Kelly for sure.
Nobody knows who those "Gossip Girl" people are, and the dude doesn't even have blond hair (it's CLEARLY brown!).
Though you do look a lot like Christina Ricci, nobody will know who you are with those people either. By "Casper" you mean the Friendly Ghost? Cool... if we were still 10.
You and Posh do share a fashion sense, but "Becks" is boring and doesn't look like Matt.
The kids from Dawson's Creek are annoying as hell.
Which leaves... Zach and Kelly! You both actually (sorta) look like them, they're awesome, and everybody knows them. Plus, 80's fashion is easy to emulate. Do it!
