Best New Music: Fruit Bats

In a blog-based culture that favors newness and "breaking" bands amongst all else...it's not uncommon for a veteran group, who has been quietly rolling out new releases for years -- to get overlooked. And this is really a shame, especially when that group is the Fruit Bats, the wonderfully whimsical, breezy, folk-rock project of one Eric Johnson, whose fifth LP Tripper dropped last week, and is a sweet listen of storied folk pop.
